Publication Ethics

The Loreto College Journal of Humanities and Social Sciences upholds the highest standards of publication ethics to ensure the integrity and credibility of its scholarly content. The journal is committed to ethical practices at every stage of the publication process, guided by the principles of transparency, accountability, and fairness. The following ethical guidelines apply to all stakeholders:


For Authors

  1. Originality and Plagiarism

    • Manuscripts submitted must be the original work of the authors and should not have been published elsewhere.
    • Proper citation and acknowledgment of sources are mandatory.
    • Plagiarism in any form is strictly prohibited and will result in rejection or retraction of the manuscript.
  2. Authorship

    • All individuals listed as authors must have contributed significantly to the research and writing process.
    • Any changes to authorship after submission must be communicated to and approved by all co-authors.
  3. Conflict of Interest

    • Authors are required to disclose any potential conflicts of interest, financial or otherwise, that could influence the research or its interpretation.
  4. Data Integrity

    • Authors must ensure the accuracy of data presented and be prepared to provide raw data for verification if requested.
  5. Multiple Submissions

    • Simultaneous submission of the same manuscript to multiple journals is unethical and unacceptable.

For Editors

  1. Fair and Impartial Decisions

    • Editorial decisions are based solely on the academic merit and relevance of the manuscript, regardless of the authors’ background, gender, or affiliation.
  2. Confidentiality

    • Editors must ensure the confidentiality of manuscripts and not disclose any information about a submission to anyone outside the peer-review process.
  3. Conflict of Interest

    • Editors must recuse themselves from handling manuscripts where they have a conflict of interest.
  4. Ethical Oversight

    • Editors are responsible for addressing ethical issues in submissions, such as suspected plagiarism or research misconduct.

For Reviewers

  1. Objectivity and Constructive Feedback

    • Reviewers must provide objective and constructive feedback to assist authors in improving their manuscripts.
  2. Confidentiality

    • Manuscripts under review must be treated as confidential and not shared or discussed with others without authorization.
  3. Acknowledgment of Sources

    • Reviewers must identify relevant published work that has not been cited by the authors.
  4. Timeliness

    • Reviewers are expected to complete their reviews within the stipulated time and inform the editor if unable to do so.
